Today we start our trek to The Red Centre. We will see some of the spectacular scenery that makes this country the best place to be in. Our first stop will be Port Augusta where we take time out to wander through Wadlarta Outback Centre before checking into the motel. Standpipe Motor Inn 08 8642 4033   Day 2: B, D Port Augusta - Coober Pedy We pack the coach and make our way to Woomera for a morning break and have a look at Missile Park. While there you can wander and gaze at the rockets on display. Time to move along to Glendambo for an early lunch. The next leg of the day has us arriving in Coober Pedy where we visit the Underground Church and Town Lookout before checking into the motel. Desert Cave Coober Pedy 08 8672 5688   Day 3: B, D Coober Pedy - Uluru After breakfast we pack the coach and travel to Uluru. On the way we pass such places as Cadney Home-stead, Marla, Kulgera and Erldunda, before arriving at our accommodation for the next 3 nights. Outback Pioneer Hotel & Lodge: 08 8957 7605   Day 4: B The Olga’s - Uluru Australia’s Red Centre is home to the natural wonder and cultural landmark, Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Located approximately 40km west of Uluru, the ochre-coloured shapes are an intriguing and mesmerising sight. After breakfast, we leave for Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and travel to the “Olgas” to explore and wan-der the mystical domes. A moderate walk into Walpa Gorge then morning tea before returning to Yulara for a lunch break. This afternoon we have time to do as you wish, put your feet up or join in some of the cultural talks around the resort. This evening we have a chance to view “The Rock” in all its glory at sun-set, arriving back to have dinner at you own leisure (own cost).   Day 5: B Uluru-Field Of Light This morning, we see one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, Uluru. Not only is it a spectacular natural formation, but Uluru is also a deeply spiritual place. You can feel a powerful presence the moment you set eyes on it. At 348 metres high, Uluru is one of the world’s largest monoliths, towering over the surrounding landscape and some 550 million years old. We board the coach for a base tour of the rock including Mutitjulu Waterhole and learn the many Aboriginal Dreamtime legends, mythology and significance of Uluru and its unique flora & fauna and taking time to visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. The award-winning Maruku Arts has a diverse range of art including woven baskets, punu (woodwork) and traditional paintings on canvas. We take time out for lunch at Yulara and have some time to relax before we visit The Field of Light art installation. The global phenomenon by internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro, has become ‘home’ to the place that inspired it. We have time for a wander and take a self-guided walk through The Field of Light before returning to the motel to find a bit to eat (own cost).   Day 6 B, D Uluru – Alice Springs   Packing the coach, we depart Uluru and make our way to Erldunda For our lunch break. Boarding the coach we continue our journey to Alice Springs. We will have a bit of free time to wander the shops for any last-minute supplies before making our way to Crown Plaza for the next 4 nights’ accommodation. Crown Plaza 08 8950 7777   Day 7: B, Alice Springs - MacDonnell Ranges We tour into the red earth country where we explore part of the ancient weathered West MacDonnell Ranges. We visit Simpson Gap National Park with its steep side ridges, huge Ghost Gums timbered creek flats and scenic rocky gaps. Our next stop is Standley Chasm, a spectacular nine metre cleft in the West McDonnells. We walk through the valley with its sheer towering walls and pre-historic cycads. We return to Alice Springs, via the “Flynn of the Inland’s” grave, a monument to his life and work in creating the “Mantle of Safety” over outback Australia. This afternoon we will visit the National Road Transport Hall of Fame. We see the first road train as well as much more. Time to make our way to our motel for a well-earned rest before dinner. Tonight, you are free to try one of the many restaurants at Lasseter’s Casino.     Day 8: B, D Alice Springs Today we make our way to The Royal Flying Doctors. It will satisfy the most curious of mind. You can discover what it's like to be inside one of the aircraft and look inside a replica fuselage of a Pilatus PC12. There is a large display of historic medical equipment that would have been used on the RFDS flights of the past. A range of model airplanes used by RFDS will take you through the different aircraft used through the decades. The Reverend John Flynn, founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), has been brought back to life to tell the story of the foundation of the world-famous aeromedical service. We continue to familiarise ourselves with Alice springs with a visit to the Old Telegraph Station dating back to 1872, once a repeater station on the Adelaide to Darwin Telegraph line. Returning to the city we take in ANZAC Hill Lookout giving us spectacular views over the city. Lunch can be had in the city centre be-fore we visit the Alice Springs Desert park with all its natural flora and fauna from the Red Centre Desert region and enjoy a fascinating Birds of Prey demonstration in the natural theatre. We will be picked up for an Outback bush BBQ and Dinner Show. This fun filled evening of entertainment and outback cuisine is set in the remote and isolated East MacDonnell Ranges. You will tuck into a mouth-watering meal of prime Australian beef, the best the land has to offer. Enjoy a cold beer or wine from the Aussie Bush Bar while an authentic bush balladeer sings timeless Australian songs underneath a chandelier of stars. At the conclusion we will be taken back to our accommodation   Day 9 B Alice Springs Today is a free day to do as you wish. You could join Palm Valley 4WD Tour, visit some of the museums or simply put your feet up. Tonight, you are free to try one of the many restaurants at Lasseter’s Casino.     Day 10: B, D Alice Springs ~ Coober Pedy We depart Alice Springs and make our way south, arriving in Coober Pedy late afternoon with time to check into the motel before dinner. Overnight Desert Cave Coober Pedy 08 8672 5688   Day 11: B, D Coober Pedy—Port Augusta We pack the coach and make our way to Glendambo for a comfort stop before continuing onto Pimba for lunch. After lunch we make our way to the Arid Lands Botanic Gardens at Port Augusta. The gardens were established in 1993, and were officially opened in 1996 to research, conserve and promote the wider appreciation of Australia’s arid zone flora. We make our way to the motel with time to freshen up before dinner. After lunch we make our way home arriving at approx. 5.00pm.
